(Toronto, Canada - by Special Correspondent Chen Rong, Huawen Net) On December 13, 2025, the Canadian Chinese Writers Association's Modern Poetry Seminar was successfully held at Shuangkuai Chinese School in Toronto.

The seminar was hosted by Yan Fei, chairman of the Chinese-Canadian Writers Association. Luo Yangfu, principal of Shuangkuai Chinese and a council member of the Chinese-Canadian Writers Association, delivered the welcome address. Jiang Ni, a council member of the Chinese-Canadian Writers Association and a renowned poet, was the main speaker and convener of this event. Association Vice Chairmen Yan Bo and Pang Jin, Chinese-Canadian Writers Association council members and core members Sun Ruixiang, Chen Rong, Huang Zanyang, Li Yan, and Lu Jie, renowned conductor and poet Yu Zi, poetry friends Cui Jianyyu and Huimin, and special guest Lǜ Zenglu, a famous Chinese-Canadian tenor singer in Toronto, gathered together to explore the true meaning of modern poetry creation.

The core highlight of this seminar came from Gianni, who holds dual roles as a medical doctor and a poet. He has long been deeply involved in fundamental cardiovascular disease research and has also enthusiastically contributed to the Chinese poetry scene, producing numerous works. On-site, Gianni donated four of his poetry collections, “Love Bound to Toronto,” "Autumn Wind Arises," "Seasons in a Foreign Land," and "Sleepless Poetic Nights," to the Toronto Shuang Kuai Chinese School. He then delivered a keynote speech titled "Passionate Modern Poetry." His poems, characterized by their distinct style of "genuine emotion and simplicity, beautiful artistic conception, and easy-to-recite rhythm," captivated the entire audience. Representative works such as "Falling in Love with Toronto," "My City," and "My Paradise" were passionately recited on stage. The sentiments of deep affection, fondness for one's homeland, and the yearning for and pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty conveyed through his verses resonated deeply with the attendees, earning him resounding applause.

After the keynote speech, writers Huang Zanyang, Pang Jin, Yan Bo, Lu Jie, Li Yan, Yu Zi, and others took the stage one after another. They shared their insights on poetry based on their own creative experiences, discussing techniques from image creation and emotional expression to the flow of inspiration, engaging in a deep and lively exchange. At the end of the seminar, Chinese-American tenor Lu Zenglu performed classic Italian art songs live. His soaring and melodious voice, in harmony with the literary beauty of poetry, brought the entire event to its climax.
