A poetic journey of the heart

Submitted by: Liu Siyuan

(Huawen Network Toronto News) From 9 AM to 4 PM on May 19, 2025, the Sino-Canadian International Cultural Artists Federation organized literary and art friends from Toronto, and invited Filipino singers and friends of all ages to participate in the "Journey of the Heart in Poetry" celebration at Mississauga Lakeside Park.
Facing the morning sun, everyone sat on the ground, chatting about their inner inspirations in poetry writing, recitation art, folk dance instruction, and classical instrument performance. We were honored to invite Yan Fei, president of the Canadian Chinese Writers Association, Li Bin, director of the Translators Association, and poetry writer Jiang Nan, who shared their personal journeys in poetry creation with emotion and feeling. This ignited everyone's passion for poetry, and each person eagerly recited their works, gaining immense benefit.

What was even more unforgettable was when music composer Li Jing, sitting in a wheelchair, played the electronic harmonica. Everyone couldn't help but hold hands and approach her, singing "Listen to Mom Tell About the Past" in unison. The harmonica music blended with the singing, echoing on a warm spring day, deeply touching everyone. At noon, we enjoyed music together, savoring lunch with candies and drinks. The delicious food, with its mix of sweet and sour flavors, allowed us to experience the different tastes of life. The afternoon featured a variety of activities such as improvisation, games, lucky draws, and photography. Everyone was filled with laughter and joy, as if intoxicated. Especially memorable were the solo performances by four Filipino singers, which were met with thunderous applause, leaving a lasting impression.

Before we knew it, the sun was setting. Groups of people ambled along, their chatter mingling with the birdsong and the scent of flowers. A shared understanding passed between them as each step revealed a new vista, a constant source of poetic inspiration. The event concluded perfectly in the pleasant spring evening.
Thank you to all the groups and performers for your support and participation in this event; thank you to the photographers, the three sound engineers, the volunteers, and all the friends and guests who selflessly contributed to this event.
