Trudeau congratulates Chinese Canadian residents on the Lunar New Year

February 10th, Lunar New Year's Day, Chinese Canadians should still be immersed in the strong feeling of New Year's happiness. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau also, as usual, posted three messages on his social media accounts to congratulate Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese Canadians on the Lunar New Year.
Here is Prime Minister Trudeau's Office's Lunar New Year greeting for 2024:
Today, Prime Minister Trudeau issued the following statement on the occasion of the Lunar New Year:
Today, Chinese communities at home and around the world are gathering to celebrate the Chinese New Year, ushering in the Year of the Dragon in 2024.
This is also known as the Spring Festival. Chinese New Year signifies a new beginning. For the next two weeks, families and friends will come together to share traditional foods, exchange gifts, and offer blessings for the year ahead. As one of the luckiest animals in the Chinese Zodiac, the dragon brings with it hopes of good fortune and health for the next 12 months.
Vibrant Chinese New Year celebrations reflect the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Canada's Chinese communities, passed down through generations. For all of us, this also offers an opportunity to recognize the ongoing contributions of over 1.7 million Chinese Canadians who have helped make our country more inclusive and diverse.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I wish everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year good health, prosperity, and all the best.
“Happy New Year! Happy New Year! Xīn Nián Kuài Lè! Sun Nin Fai Lok!”
