She had already urgently contacted 911 for a medical ambulance to come to their home, but she needed someone to temporarily look after her critically ill father late at night. This is a true event that happened with the first Chinese community emergency mutual aid alliance established in Toronto, Ontario, Canada! The Canadian Lions Rescue Team is the builder of this community mutual aid emergency alliance.
The Canada Lion Rescue Team is currently the first rescue team initiated and established by Chinese people in North America. It is an important volunteer team under the I Love You International Foundation.
The Lion Rescue Team has pioneered monthly free first aid courses for the Chinese community in Canada. Volunteers are committed to hosting free public first aid lectures every month, and these lectures are always full of new and old immigrants. In just over a year, they have provided free training to more than 1,200 people. Chinese families have brought their children and elderly relatives to learn first aid skills, and many participants have successfully resolved first aid emergencies in their lives.
The Lion Rescue Team pioneers the “Safety Officer” model in North America. The Lion Rescue Team actively collaborates with Chinese community organizations in the Toronto area to provide on-site paramedics and medical emergency stations for major sporting events and large-scale activities. Professionals appearing on scene bring peace of mind and life security to everyone!

Mr. Hong Fang, founder and chairman of I Love You International Foundation, is a new immigrant to Canada and a senior AHA emergency response instructor in China. Outside of work, he is passionate about public welfare and has been committed to founding volunteer teams for 32 years. He founded the China Lion Club Fuyuan Service Team in China, leading tens of thousands of volunteers to serve left-behind children in impoverished mountainous areas of China for a long time: donating over 800,000 books to rural primary schools in China, and providing emergency response skills training to over 100,000 people nationwide, including civilian rescue teams, students, company employees, and community citizens. He has participated in various disaster relief efforts, such as the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake in Sichuan, the Ludian Earthquake in Yunnan, and international disaster relief in Fiji.
After immigrating to Canada, Hong Fang discovered that Chinese Canadians severely lacked first aid training due to language and cultural barriers. He quickly funded and established Canada's first Chinese rescue team, the Lion Rescue Team. Their first free first aid training lecture was held at the Markham Glory Fencing Club in Toronto, attracting over 160 attendees. This initiative quickly sparked a wave of public welfare activities in Toronto, with 1-3 free public lectures held monthly, all of which were packed. Participants came from various cities in the Greater Toronto Area, including Markham, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, Newmarket, and Mississauga. In over a year, more than 1,200 community residents have been trained in first aid skills!
The Canadian Lion Rescue Team not only hosts public first aid lectures themselves, but also proactively contacts various Chinese community groups in the Toronto area to jointly conduct free first aid lectures. In one year, they established Canada's first Chinese community mutual aid first aid alliance!
Although Canada's emergency medical system is very comprehensive, the golden hour for emergency response is four minutes. Only through mutual assistance can we guarantee life safety and establish a neighborhood watch model where everyone helps each other and everyone is helped by others. We must provide first aid before the ambulance arrives to protect every life! The importance of a mutual assistance platform for both new and old Chinese immigrants in Canada's neighborhood watch is highlighted: information sharing, mutual assistance among neighbors, emergency assistance, and crime prevention.
To establish Canada's first Chinese community mutual aid first aid alliance, volunteer core members are not only hosting free first aid lectures every month but also actively cultivating teams of adult and high school volunteer instructors. This initiative aims to create a Chinese mutual aid public welfare network, making it convenient for both new and established Chinese immigrants to provide assistance to each other nearby.
It is understood that I Love You International Foundation (Canada I Love You International Foundation) is a federal non-profit organization registered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The long-term goals of its “Canadian Lions Rescue Team” are: First, to provide free training to 100,000 people in first aid skills to become first aid volunteers; Second, to train 1,000 adult and youth first aid trainers, forming a community mutual aid public welfare model. (Canada I Love You International Foundation) Introduction
We are a federal non-profit organization registered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, positioned as a public welfare mutual assistance platform for new immigrants in Canada.
What have we contributed to society?
(1) The volunteer team we founded in China is the China Lions Club Fuyuan Service Team, which has been serving left-behind children in impoverished mountainous areas of China for a long time:
1. Student aid class: annually supports 70 high school students from impoverished mountainous areas, with an annual cost of 140,000 RMB;
2. Love Wardrobe Foundation: Donates brand new windproof jackets to left-behind children in mountainous areas of China every autumn.
3. Rural primary school love library: We have donated over 800,000 books in total.
4. First Aid Public Welfare Course: Conducted in schools, communities, and businesses for over 20 years.
(2) Our Canadian Toronto federal non-profit organization, "I Love You International Foundation," primarily conducts safety and first aid training for Chinese families in the Toronto, Ontario region of Canada. We also provide "Safety Officers and First Aid Stations" for various large-scale competitions and events.
1. "Toronto Public First Aid Salon": We currently hold 1-2 free first aid salons per month, with attendance ranging from approximately 50 to 160 people per session. We encourage parent-child training and family participation. Our goal is to train 100,000 first aid volunteers in Toronto!
2. Safety Officer Services: We have provided first aid support for numerous large-scale Chinese sports competitions and various large Chinese gatherings in Toronto, Canada.
